Dr. Sebastian Siebenhaar

Sebastian is a partner at Kador & Partner, having practiced as a European and German Patent and Trade Mark Attorney since 2015 and he is also representative at the European Unified Patent Court.

At Kador & Partner Sebastian deals with all kinds of patent matters including prosecution, litigation and FTO in the technical fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals and life science as well as medical engineering. He has particular experience in opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO and in invalidity actions before the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Court of Justice. He is also regularly involved in German and pan-European infringement proceedings before the competent courts.

Sebastian studied biochemistry at the University of Bayreuth with a focus on protein biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry, genetics and microbiology. He graduated with honors in 2006 with a diploma thesis on the recombinant preparation of protein thioesters. His subsequent dissertation at the Department of Bioorganic Chemistry of the University of Bayreuth dealt with the heterologous expression and chemical modification of protein fragments and with the semisynthesis of uniform glycoproteins by native chemical ligation. In 2011 he received his doctorate degree with “summa cum laude” and the Otto-Warburg Doctorate Award in chemistry.

Sebastian’s native language is German and he is fluent English and also speaks French.

In his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his family, football as well as playing the guitar. Furthermore, he is coaching kids football teams at the age of U6-U12.
