Dr. Karoline Bopp

Karoline is a partner at Kador & Partner. She is practicing as a European and German Patent and Trade Mark Attorney and is also a representative before the European Unified Patent Court.

Karoline is involved in all kinds of patent matters including drafting and prosecuting patent applications and mainly focusing on opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO. She coordinates large patent portfolios for clients worldwide and prepares FTO analyses and patent validity and infringement opinions. Karoline is specialized in the area of life science, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology and also in polymer and general chemistry.

Karoline has a strong background in biology, biochemistry and chemistry. She studied biology with a focus on biochemistry, genetics and developmental biology at the Technical University of Darmstadt and prepared her diploma thesis at Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, working in the field of molecular cell biology. During her PhD thesis at the Department of Molecular Structural Biology of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry she dealt with the expression and functional analysis of protein complexes for their subsequent structure determination by means of cryo-electron tomography.

She is fluent in German and English and speaks some French.

Karoline enjoys spending her free time with her husband and her two kids, often skiing, hiking or sailing.
