Bernhard is a partner at Kador & Partner, bringing over 25 years of experience in the field of intellectual property. He practices as a European and German patent and trade mark attorney and is also registered as a representative before the European Unified Patent Court.

Bernhard pursued his academic studies in chemistry and chemical engineering at the Universities of Regensburg and Karlsruhe. During his doctoral research at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, he conducted an integral part of his dissertation work at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California (USA). In 1999, he successfully completed his dissertation with the highest distinction, summa cum laude, in Munich.

At Kador & Partner, Bernhard specializes in a wide range of patent law issues and is well-versed in trade mark and design matters. He possesses extensive experience in handling opposition and appeal proceedings related to European patents, recognizing the crucial role of thorough preparation in achieving success. Additionally, Bernhard is proficient in providing FTO (Freedom-To-Operate) opinions, validity and infringement assessments, conducting IP due diligence, and managing mandates pertaining to German employee invention law.

Bernhard speaks German, English, and French fluently, and has basic knowledge of Italian and Thai. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends and having a good beer, often at Giesinger Bräu, a brewery in Munich where he’s a co-owner.
